These terms cover your use of MIDItoAppleScript, paid version 2 and free version 1, and the licence the developer grants. Gumroad, Inc. handles the sale of version 2 as merchant of record.

MIDItoAppleScript turns MIDI messages into keystrokes and AppleScript on your Mac. Version 2 requires macOS 13 or later and a MIDI controller that macOS recognises. Universal: Apple Silicon and Intel.

Version 2 supports Note On, Note Off, Control Change (CC), Program Change, Channel Aftertouch, Pitch Bend and relative encoder mode, for knobs that send changes rather than fixed positions. Version 1 supports Note On, Note Off and CC on Apple Silicon Macs only.

The licence

The developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for the Macs you personally use. A purchased licence covers version 2 and its updates while the licence is valid.

The personal-Macs condition is a licence condition, not a technical limit. No machine count is kept and the key is not locked to a Mac. Do not redistribute MIDItoAppleScript or share your licence key.

The developer may disable a key used in breach of this licence and will email your purchase email address before doing so. The developer will re-enable the key if your explanation resolves the apparent breach. The email may offer a replacement key through a free Gumroad checkout. The developer may disable a key without notice only if the purchase itself is fraudulent, for example through a fraudulent chargeback. Disabling a key stops scripts at the next successful licence check, or at the end of the 20-day trial if that is later. Your profiles, mappings and scripts remain saved.

Version 1 remains free at version 1.1.2, supplied as is, with no support promise or further updates of any kind.

The trial

Version 2 provides the full app for 20 days from first launch, without payment, an account or an email address. When the trial ends, scripts stop running. Editing, saving, importing and exporting profiles, switching profiles and the Live Monitor keep working.

Enter a valid licence key in the Settings window, Licence tab. 'Enter a Key' is also available in the banner shown once the trial has ended. Script running resumes without a restart. Trial and paid use share one download.

Buying

Version 2 costs $29 as a one-off purchase through Gumroad. Gumroad takes payment, collects and remits VAT and sales tax, issues the receipt and handles refund transactions. The developer grants the licence through Gumroad.

UK buyers pay $34.80 including VAT. Elsewhere, any VAT or sales tax your country charges is added at checkout. Card payments are taken in US dollars. If your card uses another currency, your card provider converts the amount and may charge a fee.

Your Gumroad receipt email contains your licence key.

The licence check

After you enter a key, version 2 sends Gumroad the product identifier, licence key and increment_uses_count. On activation, increment_uses_count is true, asking Gumroad to add one to the activation count for your key. For every other check, the field is false and the count does not increase. Repeated activations on the same Mac count separately. Gumroad sees the requesting IP address. Version 2 reads only whether the key is recognised, whether Gumroad has disabled it and whether the purchase was refunded or charged back.

At launch, version 2 checks if 24 hours have passed since the last successful check. While open, version 2 checks hourly whether the daily check is due. 'Activate' and 'Check Now' also request a check.

An internet connection at least once every 90 days is a technical protection measure for the licence. Network or server errors leave the licence state unchanged. Script running continues offline for 90 days from the last successful check, then stops until a check succeeds.

Refunds

You can request a refund within 14 days of purchase, no questions asked. Use the contact form or email hello@miditoapplescript.com, using your checkout email address. Gumroad returns payment to the original payment method.

Gumroad disables the licence key after a full refund or partial refunds that total the full purchase price. The next successful licence check stops scripts running once the 20-day trial has ended. If your 20-day trial has not yet ended, scripts keep running until it does. If the Mac stays offline, scripts can keep running for up to 90 days from the last successful check. Your profiles, mappings and scripts remain saved. Only script running stops. A chargeback has the same effect. If the chargeback is reversed or the developer re-enables the key, the next successful check restores script running.

If you are a UK consumer, you have a legal right to cancel within 14 days of the contract. To cancel, send the developer a clear statement through the contact form or by email to hello@miditoapplescript.com. You may use the model cancellation form, but it is not required. Because the licence key is supplied immediately, this right may be lost when supply begins with your express consent and acknowledgement that you will lose the right to cancel. You can use the 14-day no-questions refund in every case.

Your scripts

MIDItoAppleScript delivers each matching MIDI message to the mapping you made. MIDItoAppleScript runs the AppleScript or sends the keystroke you provided, using your macOS account permissions.

MIDItoAppleScript has no view of what your scripts do. You are responsible for what your scripts do. The developer remains responsible for supplying satisfactory software.

Support and updates

The developer reads the contact form and releases version 2 updates when ready. Support has no guaranteed response time, and updates have no promised schedule.

Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms takes away your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Governing law

The law of England and Wales governs these terms. Consumers keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where they live.

Changes to these terms

Revised terms apply to future purchases. An existing licence may change only for a valid reason: a change in the law or in Gumroad's service that affects the licence. Any change must be limited to what that reason requires, with advance notice on this page.

Severability

If a term cannot be enforced, the remaining terms continue to apply.
